<p>Banks's Visitors Centre is to host a curry-off tonight as
invited guests gather to see if four city restaurants can 'rice to
the challenge' ahead of the Curry Capital of Britain final
judging.</p>

<p>And while they are deciding whether the people's favourite
curry-houses know their aloo from their gobi, they will be swilling
it down with a bottle of Banks's Ultimate Curry Beer (UCB), the
first time the quaffable ale has appeared in bottle for ten
years.</p>

<p>Banks's brand manager Jo Wyke said: "While there won't really be
any judging going on at this stage, we thought we'd get the guests
to meet the four restaurants picked to represent the city and
introduce them to the best beer you can get to compliment the
ultimate curry!</p>

<p>"UCB hasn't been in a bottle for years and it's about time it
got out there to baji in on the action - and let's hope we can make
samosa it!"</p>

<p>City centre restaurants Bilash and Anise will be joined by Café
Rickshaw in Chapel Ash and Massalla Club from Tettenhall as Team
Wolverhampton.</p>

<p>The pukka beer will be available in Aldi as a special 'When its
gone, it's gone' (WIGIG) offer from 13th October for the
supermarket's Asian-themed festival.&nbsp; It will also be
available from the Banks's Brewery Shop.</p>

<p>It will then be available during November in cask on the guest
ale programme in Banks's and Marston's pubs - just as the weather
starts to get a bit chilli.</p>

<p>Voting for the Curry Capital of Britain finishes on later this
week.&nbsp; Last year Wolverhampton came third - ahead of
Birmingham and Leicester.</p>

<p><em>Junction,</em> the festival of contemporary arts will be
taking place in Chapel Ash, Wolverhampton, this weekend
(2nd &amp; 3rd Sep) and Banks's brewery is
proud to support this unique event showcasing local talent.</p>

<p>Junction is a free event that will bring together a large
selection of artists; including musicians, performers and visual
acts. All acts will display their work in showrooms of local
traders, cafes, public houses and interventions in the street.</p>

<p>Local artists Sandra Thomas and Phillip Lynch will be displaying
their work in the Banks's Brewery visitor centre throughout the two
day festival. Sandra's&nbsp;work entitled "Cribbage Spillage"
focuses on the lost language of cribbage, a popular lingo that
accompanied the traditional pub game Crib.</p>

<p>Jo Wyke, brand manager for Banks's said: "We are happy to
support local artists and this festival provides an ideal
opportunity for the local community to get behind homegrown talent
and another fantastic reason to be proud of Wolverhampton.</p>

<p>"All of the music from the festival will be hosted at three
local Banks's stockists: The Clarendon Hotel, The Combermere Arms
and The Royal Oak so this is an essential festival for locals that
want to sample the best local music and beer. The Clarendon will be
the haven of activity for the evening of Sep 3rd, we
hope everyone will come down and raise a glass of Banks's and
celebrate what great local talent we have here in
Wolverhampton."</p>

<p>Banks's is working closely with the Wolverhampton Contemporary
Art Forum, a group comprised predominantly of practicing visual
artists, and the festival will be its first major event.</p>

<p>Banks's Park Brewery's first open day for many years was a
success, with hundreds of people turning up for a fun-packed day
full of activities - despite the fact that the heavens opened!</p>

<p>Saturday's event saw adults enjoying a pint of Banks's and a
brewery tour with a magician, face painter, and bouncy castle for
the kids to enjoy! A band played out of a dray to entertain the
crowds - and there was even a falcon overseeing the event from
above!</p>

<p>Brand manager Jo Wyke said: "We're delighted so many people
could make it despite the wet weather.&nbsp; Everyone, visitors and
staff had a great day out and we hope we can do it again because
it's a really nice event for the whole community."</p>

<p>A Perry Barr pub football team are celebrating after reigning
victorious from a nail biting football match which was settled by a
penalty shoot out.</p>

<p>The Cat and Fiddle beat Dudley pub team the Waggoners to be
crowned Banks's Lionhearts Champions 2011, and also bagged £1,500
and a plasma TV.</p>

<p>Goal Keeper, Chris Beresford from the Cat and Fiddle, said: "It
was an intense match, and it was really uncertain who was going to
win, especially as we came back up from a Waggoners 2-0 lead in the
second-half, and when it went into penalties I knew that was it, we
had to really go for it, winning was within our grasp and
fortunately ours was victory."</p>

<p>Over the past 15 weeks teams from across the Black Country have
been battling it out for the top title.</p>

<p>Joanne Wyke, Banks's Brand manager, said: "Well done the Cat and
Fiddle - who did really well, as the wealth of football talent on
offer at the Lionhearts Champions has been amazing! We had a great
response to the competition, where we wanted to show off the
football skills of the Black Country. The competition has been a
huge success, with teams already asking us about the next one!"</p>
